Advocacy

[TCC's Rob Johnson and Jessyn Schor at a transportation bill signing with Gov. Gregoire, 2005] Transportation choices need a strong advocate both statewide and locally. One of our primary activities is to advocate for legislation and policies that promote choices.

Our advocacy work is guided by a belief that it is more effective to propose a better solution than simply point out flaws in a proposal. Sometimes this means developing and sponsoring our own proposal, other times we put our weight behind good solutions brought forth by others.

In general we support state and local level transportation funding prioritized on cost effectiveness, and environmental and social benefit. This means advocating for measures that include efforts to reduce the number of car trips and expand transportation choices—and widen roads only as a last priority.

Find out more about the kinds of road and choices projects we advocate for.
